Front

Lobby

To the right of our entrance, just before the doors, you will find a large wooden plate with our lodge’s name carved into it. This was a gift from the photographer Mr.Yukio Tabuchi on the occasion of Nishi-Itoya’s 50th anniversary.

As you enter the lobby, you will immediately notice the fragrance of natural wood. You are entering the world of “shinrin yoku”, which means “forest fragrance”.

The main stairs leading to the guest rooms in the main building are made of natural Japanese larch grown in the area. While ascending the stairs, you can admire carvings of plants found in this area, as well as beautiful scenic photos taken by Nishi-Itoya’s owner, Mr.Okada.

Public bath

Public Baths

Japanese-style mineral baths famously help you relax and make your aches and pains go away. However, at this mountain lodge, there is the added bonus of a breathtaking view of the Hotaka Mountains. In some season, you may even notice the mountains tint red as the sun starts to rise early in the morning.

In consideration of the local environment, there are no baths in private rooms or in the annex. Our huge baths, one for men and one for women, come with all the necessary amenities such as showers, shampoo, conditioner, and body soap. The baths are open from 5:30am to 8am, and again from 2pm to 10pm.
